Installing INVISIBLE at the Back Loft, Marc Reilly and Mary A Fitzgerald


By setting up a combination of elements in a specific space ie: Floor, wall pieces, video projection and sound in order to allow the viewer complete a narrative or their own looking experience. The experience of looking is not only based on what you see with your eyes, that gives you the sensation of something, but also how your history, experience and emotions process what you are looking at. The world appears uniquely to each individual and external influences affect what we see and how we see it.
The work creates the suggestion of place and things, but also work around the sensation and sense of experience.
Jacques Derrida talks of the continuum of absence and presence, within which infinite “undecidables” or possibilities oscillate. By developing the piece we see the opportunity to work with the undecidables.
